Vape Batteries and eCigs Exploding – Oh My

There seems to be a lot of hysteria today around ecigs exploding. But the media fails to detail why these vape batteries explode in the first place. Most times it has nothing to do with the ecig or vape pen itself, but on human error, mainly due to lack of knowledge.

Vape Pen Blows Up in Man’s Face!
You’ll notice the article does not specify what type of “ecig” the man was using, but obviously, it was not a low-end model vape pen like an eGo.

“Lee, a former e-cigarette smoker himself, said the device had been customized. “I’ve never seen one that has so much power, it’s aftermarket customized so you can change the voltage for high performances,” he said.”

Which Vape Pens Explode?

Don’t Believe the Hype and Scare Tactics From the Media! These are not “vape pens” that are exploding. They are “Mechanical Mods” – and more than likely, the mods were built with unstable or defective vape batteries or the user did something terribly wrong to cause the explosion.

INR Vape Batteries

It’s very rare that INR vape batteries will be defective. So why are they exploding? User Error. These batteries don’t just blow up for no reason.

Who’s at Fault?

Partial blame can be placed on the shop where the vaper bought the mod; maybe the sales personnel didn’t fully explain how the battery works, what to or not to do with it, etc.

Most of the blame, though, as horrible as it is when these things happen and serious injuries occur, can be placed on the user. If you’re a new vaper and not familiar with the advanced mechanical mods and how to correctly build them, you shouldn’t be using them. Stick with prebuilt vape pens where the rechargeable vape batteries are encased and not meant to be removed or replaced.

Vape Pens vs Mechanical Mods

Vape pens like the eGo or LOGIC’s new vape pens are built with an enclosed battery that’s rechargeable. Once the battery starts losing its ability to hold a charge, you throw it out and buy a new one.

Mechanical Mods, however, are more advanced. They’re rebuildable and customizable. And if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could easily cause the batteries to short out and explode.

Our friends over at VapeIcon.com just released a blog post about how to avoid eCig explosions! It’s a great read!

Don’t Be Afraid to Start Vaping!

If you’re being scared off from starting to vape because of these mass hysteria stories of ecigs exploding, don’t be.

New vapers shouldn’t be using these advanced mods. In fact, a lot of new vapers find an ecig or vape pen they like, and stick with it.

The mechanical mods, however, are for people who really get into electronics and love messing with things to make them better, or want to customize the mod for more vapor, a stronger throat hit, bigger vape batteries for longer use, etc.

If this isn’t something you’re into, you don’t need to worry about any ecigs exploding because you won’t be taking anything apart. Find a vape pen kit that you really like, stick with it, and leave the mechanical mods to the experts.
